Add Android Adaptive Icon layers

Modern Android launchers don’t just display your icon as-is – they combine separate layers to adapt it to different shapes and, on newer devices, the user’s chosen wallpaper theme. This section sets up those layers.

Steps

1. Go to Android Adaptive Icons

Open Splash & App Icon → Android Adaptive Icons, right below Core Assets.

2. Add your Foreground Layer

Your logo, centered – around 512×512 pixels recommended.

3. Add your Background Layer

The solid color or graphic that sits behind your foreground – also around 512×512 pixels.

4. Add your Monochrome Layer

A single-color version of your icon, around 432×432 pixels, used by Android 13 and newer for themed icons that match the user’s wallpaper and system theme.

5. Set your Adaptive Background Color

This color shows through anywhere you haven’t uploaded a Background Layer.

6. Preview the combined icon

Switch to the App Launcher tab to see how the layers combine into one finished icon.
